Welcome to the 2010 MPI-NJ Golf Outing

This year we are going to take a shot at implementing technology into the event so that we can all communicate with one another throughout the day. Twitter accounts have been set up for each foursome, as well as for each hole sponsor, and other onsite sponsors. We would like everyone to "tweet" about how you are playing, a hole you enjoyed, or anything else that comes to mind.

You have been sent an email with your twitter user name and password. We have created a "closed" group of followers that includes only the foursomes on the course, hole sponsors and other sponsors that are at the actual event. In order to use your new account follow these few simple steps:

  • Locate your username and password in the email sent from MPI
  • Navigate to Twitter Login
  • Enter your user name and password
  • You are now ready to tweet. Enter updates and fun messages in the dialog box at the top of the page
  • See what others are saying in the feed below the dialog box.
  • If you want to change your password, or customize your Twitter icon, press "Settings" at the top right of the Twitter page once you have logged in.
Below is a map of the Royce Brook golf course that shows the starting position of each foursome, each holes sponsor, and other points of interest like the putting green and driving range. Use your mouse cursor to hover over each of these to see whose group it is as well as what their twitter username is. If you click while hovering over a group, it will take you to their personalized twitter page showing you the messages they have posted.

Important: We want you all to be "tweeting" while on the golf course the day of the event (as well as beforehand to get comfortable with Twitter and get excited about the event), so get yourself familiar with how to use your new account and posting new tweets. Log on to Twitter.com using your smart phone and familiarize yourself with the interface so you can post and track tweets while on the course.

If you prefer to use an app instead of using the browser check out these if you have a Blackberry:

... or if you have an iPhone, there are tons of apps in the App Store, just search Twitter (I recommend TweetDeck)!
